1mm oversized valves were used to help accomodate the increased port size. The heads were sent off for full superbike spec porting. The crank and trans were sent off to Falicon to be knife edge, polished, lightened and trans undercut. Frame is 100% true and the bike has never been down.Ī new set of engine cases were ordered for the bike & a very low mileage donor engine was acquired for parts. GMD computrack helped set the ride height, suspension and laser checked the chassis/swingarm/frame geometry. The result is a very steerable and stable chassis geometry, which is not unlike the newer model CBR's. The Ohlins has been re-sprung for the increased leverage and the forks revalved & re-sprung to accomodate. For nearly infinite ride height adjustment, I added a speedlink adjustable dog bone. To help offset the new trail and wheelbase, I converted the front end to use an F3 17" front wheel. The short wheelbase of the 900rr is problematic under heavy acceleration, so rather than extend the swingarm, I located a VFR750 swingarm (nearly 2" longer) and a set of Attack triples to change the trail. I picked up a donor 900rr in 2004, stripped it to the frame and hand built this bike to Vintage 7 superbike specs. Seemed a fitting bike for the original vintage bodywork from Airtech. Now, as for the bike, it's a Vintage 7 class 997cc superbike.
